Therapeutic Garden
Biologists tell us that the many organisms, which tend the soil, are essential for the continued existence of humankind. The small organic garden at Suaimhneas reminds us of the richness of the earth, and brings us into the awareness of our partnership with the whole community of life.

This garden produces more than 25 different vegetables, herbs, plants and flowers. It is nourished by natural manure, courtesy of local farmers. The compost heap and wormery at Suaimhneas facilitate recycling of all household and garden waste. It also fertilises the earth thus producing the necessities which nourish and sustain us.

Tending to the garden with caring hands reminds us of a relationship of mutual dependence and of earth’s nourishing and healing properties.
